Thank you for your interest in joining our club. We love to welcome new members from all backgrounds and abilities. We are passionate about ensuring everyone has the opportunity to have a go on the water and to achieve their goals whatever they might be; from completing a trip on the Norfolk Broads to paddling for Team GB – you can do it with us.
Norwich Canoe Club is one of the best clubs in the country to start or develop your paddling. Our coaches are (British Canoeing) Paddle UK qualified and are all Safeguarding and First Aid trained. There are 3 pathways to joining our club.
1. If you have any of the following experience you can join our club straight away:
Please complete an Application Form (include link here) and we will get back to you soon.
2. If you have any of the following experience, you can attend a free one-to-one introductory session with one of our coaches so we can assess the best path for you:
Please email our Membership Secretary [email protected] and we will get back to you soon to arrange a session.
3. If you have no experience of paddling a kayak or canoe, or have not paddled a racing kayak before, you can come to one of our free Open Days and give it a try. Alternatively, you can complete one of our Learn to Kayak courses (see details on our Learn to Kayak page).
There are skills needed to paddle a racing kayak (such as using your feet to steer) that are different to other sorts of kayaks so it’s good to have the time to learn with a small group.
Once you’ve completed a course, you’ll be able to join our club and take part in our huge range of club sessions.
Please head to the Learn to Kayak page on how you can attend a course.
If you regard yourself as having an impairment or special needs please let us know. We have specialist adapted boats and instructors. We will do our best to offer alternative options to learn to paddle that specifically fit your needs and wants. Please see the Paddle Ability page for more information.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact our Membership Secretary, Tammy, who will be happy to answer your questions or at least point you in the right direction. We’re here to help and look forward to hearing from you.
It really is a fantastic sport and a great way to meet people and make friends at a brilliant club!
