LEARN TO KAYAK

Would you like to try kayaking in Norwich?

Whether you’re a seasoned paddler looking to experience the speed and excitement of a racing kayak, or a complete beginner ready to learn something new, you’ve come to the right place.

Our Learn to Kayak courses in Whitlingham Country Park, just outside Norwich, run throughout the warmer months and are perfect for anyone aged 8 and over who wants to learn in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

Our Courses

Led by qualified, DBS-checked coaches, all sessions include equipment hire and full use of our facilities—so you can simply turn up and get started. Our beginner-friendly kayaking courses are designed for families, children, adults, and those over 60, making them ideal for anyone looking to get into kayaking and canoeing in Norfolk.

All sessions take place on the water, so participants must be able to swim at least 25 metres.

During the course, you’ll primarily paddle racing-style kayaks. We begin in our most stable boats so that you can build confidence and develop your skills. As your confidence grows, you will have the opportunity to try a slightly less stable boat, giving you a taste of the faster racing-style kayaks used in the sport. We also have stand-up paddle boards (SUPs), sit-on-top kayaks and surfskis, which are similar to touring kayaks and are particularly stable.

We don’t normally use Canadian canoes as part of our Learn to Kayak courses. However, if you’re interested in learning about Canadian canoeing, please get in touch and we can arrange a more bespoke session.
