Learn To Kayak

The courses

We run introductory ‘Learn to Kayak’ courses throughout the warmer months. These courses are for anyone age 8+ who wants to learn how to paddle a kayak. In these courses, our qualified coaches will teach you the basics of kayaking using our racing kayaks.

This course is for everyone, you don’t need any previous experience. However, as we are on the water, we do require that you are able to swim at least 25m.

The courses consist of 3 sessions of 2 hours, and cost £45.

What will you learn?

During this course, we will teach you a range of kayaking skills aimed at getting you safely moving on the water. Courses will be adapted to the needs of the participants, but a general outline is:

  • How to carry a kayak
  • Entering and exiting your kayak
  • Basic paddling strokes; learn how to move forwards and backwards, as well as turning.
